With Gary Cohen of BD and Resonance’s own Steve Schmida, we will dive into the DNA of cross-sector partnerships for innovation by:

  • Exploring the role of cross-sector collaboration in advancing innovation for health
  • Breaking down the partnership process, including when to partner, how to design and execute meaningful collaboration, and how to navigate common partnership roadblocks
  • Highlighting real-world partnerships that accelerate innovative health solutions in emerging markets

Gary Cohen is Executive Vice President, Global Health and President of the BD Foundation at BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), a global medical technology company with 70,000 employees worldwide. Mr. Cohen is also a board director of UNICEF USA and the Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children, board co-chair of GBCHealth, and board chair and founder of Together for Girls, a global partnership of national governments, UN agencies, and private sector organizations dedicated to stopping violence against children, particularly sexual violence against girls. He previously served on the UN Commission on Life Saving Commodities for Women and Children and as board director and chair of the CDC Foundation, and presently serves as chair of the CDC/Corporate Roundtable on Global Health Threats.

Mr. Cohen and BD engage in extensive cross-sector collaboration to address unmet health needs globally, working with international agencies, governments, and non-government organizations, focused on specific health goals such strengthening clinical and laboratory practices, safely immunizing children, addressing infectious and non-communicable diseases, reducing maternal and newborn mortality, improving safety for health workers and patients and combating antimicrobial resistance.  Associated with this threat, in 2017 he founded the Antimicrobial Resistance Fighters Coalition, presently comprised of a diverse community of over 160 stakeholders from 42 countries including senior health ministry officials, clinicians, NGO leaders, patients, and family members of patients who died from resistant infections.
