Chief Executive Officer
Nazgul Abdrazakova is the President and CEO of Resonance, where she leads a team of more than 100 Resonators working with clients and partners around the world to drive sustainability and unlock growth.
Nazgul grew up in a small village nestled in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan in Soviet Central Asia. The oldest of six children, Nazgul was raised in a loving family in a modest two-room farmhouse without running water. A diligent and hard-working student, Nazgul was the first in her family to attend university. While at university, the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, and Kyrgyzstan became an independent country. Amidst this tremendous economic and social dislocation, Nazgul began her professional career working on a World Bank-funded privatization project in Kyrgyzstan. Later, she played key roles on USAID and Global Environmental Facility-funded development projects in enterprise restructuring, accounting reform, and energy efficiency. Through these experiences, she gained first-hand experience in the promise and challenges of international development efforts.
In 2007, Nazgul joined the company to oversee finance and operations. She assumed ever greater responsibilities until becoming CEO in 2010. As CEO, Nazgul has led a period of tremendous company growth from five employees in 2010 to more than a hundred today. Under her leadership, Resonance has received numerous awards and accolades for its work including the 2015 P3 Impact Award, inclusion in the 2019 Inc. 5000 fastest growing businesses, and B-Corp certification in 2021.
Nazgul earned her undergraduate degree at Kyrgyz National University and studied abroad at the University of Colorado and Charles University in Prague. She later received her MBA from New York University Stern School of Business. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Vermont Council on Rural Development. Fluent in her native Kyrgyz as well as Russian and English, Nazgul lives in Vermont with her husband (and business partner) Steve, and their two children.
